Child attempted abduction in ASDA Manchester

HOAX! It would appear a story circulating at the moment is actually a racist circular email.

"Last night at ASDA Manchester a little girl of 3 went missing, ASDA’s policy is to lock all doors the girl was found in the toilet with 2 Romanian women, one was shaving her head and the other was putting her in boys clothes. This has been told to me by an employee of ASDA, be extra vigilant when out and about. Pass on to anyone who may need to know this information."

New playground in Macclefield vandalised

The playground only just opened on the Hurdsfield Estate days ago has been vandalised. It was my first trip to see the shiny new facility the council had built. I was gutted to see that one of the swings had chunks removed, huge amount of grafitti, safety matting intentionally damaged.

The playground is one of the best equipped in the area with some superb modern climbing frames, swings amd flush to the floor roundabouts.

I am apauled that in such a small time a brilliant resource has been ruined.

Great kids days out in Cheshire

We have an 18 month old girl and live in east Cheshire. We are always trying to think of more places to try out at weekend but searching the web always returns the same old usual suspects like Gullivers World and The Blue Planet.

This page is my effort to collate as many great places in the region to take kids as possible. Part to do list and part places we know and love!

Please contribute your suggestions by making a comment at the bottom of the page. Make sure you say what's great about them and where they are.

Child development charting against percentile

Just discovered a really useful tool for charting your child's development against percentiles. When a baby is young this is of particular interest to ensure a healthy future.

The secret to perfect childrens bubbles

Mums sometimes really do know best. It has been driving us insane that bought pots of bubbles thee days just don't work. My mum suggested adding baby shampoo to the mix, we thought she was mad, but it only worked. Perfect bubbles blowing every time.

Better still if you use baby shampoo to make the bubbles pure, if it gets in a childs eye it is less likely to cause harm.

Maxi Cosi Priori XP Car Seat Video - How to fit to your car

We have just bought a Maxi Cosi Priori XP Car Seat from Halfords. Positive reviews for the Maxi Cosi Priori XP on the net, it has also won a Mother and Baby Gold Best Buy Award. These days all car seats meet the stringent safety requirements so you can be sure they are going to protect your baby. The most likely reason your child will be at risk of harm in your car is a badly fitted car seat. Modern child car seats are so sophisticated that it is easy to fit them incorrectly.

Choosing a car seat for your child, baby or infant

Selecting the right car seat for your child is an important descision. The choice is not as simple as you might assume as a new parent. There are in fact 5 groups of seat, some which overlap child weights so you need to be careful what you buy.

Your choice will be influenced partly by your child and also cost.

Mountain Buggy Urban All terrain Pram Review

We first considered buying an all terrain pram because we were always wanting to be in the outdoors either running or walking . Once we had a child we wanted to continue doing all the activities we could, at least maybe to a lesser level. Whilst living in New Zealand we were introduced to Moutain Buggys by friends who had kids and also we keen outdoor enthusiast.

Alternative child carriers for outdoor enthusiasts

We have a Little Life child carrier which is suitable up to 6 months of age. Whilst it has proved better than the Baby Bjorn since it has a far easier harness system, I have just discovered that Macpac make a similar carrier which appears to be far superior. The buckles are more substantial and easier to operate with gloves on and coming from a leading mountaineering brand you can be sure the product is bombproof. Neddlesport stock the macpac carrier.
