I recently attended the Drupalcon in Barcelona where there was a presentation of the Google Summer of code projects from 2007. The SOC produces some superb opportunites for open source projects to support students financially who wish to develop code during their summer vacation. This year the Drupal Project had 20 students in the Summer of Code.

Amongst the 20 Drupal SOC Projects this year I found the Taxonomy Manager to be particularly interesting. This provides an ajax style interface for managing complex taxonomy trees which would otherwise take a lot of page refreshes to handle.
