The Policeman's Cottages are 3 self contained self catering cottages opposite the main Dunstanburgh Hotel in Embleton. They are new builds which really surpised us because they were totally in keeping with the old style of the surrounding buildings, really nice. We took a chance when booking because they hadn't been completed and no photos were available online.
On arrival we were very pleasantly surprised. The high standard of fittings and well thought out open plan accommodation met with our immediate approval. The rear entrance opened up to a very useful utility area with washing machine, separate drier and space to store coats. There was a downstairs cloak room with toilet and basin, useful if guests are using the sofa bed.
The kitchen was modern, well equiped with electric (good) how and oven, microwave and plenty of surfaces for food preparation. The well laid out living area was zoned into dining and living area which had a good sized TV and dvd player. The property is set slightly back from the road which was never busy anyway.
Upstairs were two identical very comfortable en suite rooms which had superb beds and reasonable sized wardrobes and a dressing table. No tv in bedrooms, which did not bother us. The ensuite had bath and a good shower, cosy but adequate and very clean.
No real complaints apart from a few minor items missing in the kitchen like a chopping board, otherwise we were very impressed, and we are pretty well travelled and partcular!
