Great places for coffee

I am always hunting for a great coffee. We have lived in New Zealand where coffee has developed into an art form. The UK seems to stuggle to provide cafes which prepare good coffee, these are a few which I really like.

Greenhouse Restaurant at Larch Cottage Nurseries Melkinthorpe Cumbria

From humble beginnings this superb food heaven has grown into a superstar. A regular for years I first enjoyed this cafe becuase it was a perfectly located and convenient to Larch Cottage Nurseries, Melkinthorpe. Gradually as i kept coming, the food has just got better and the cakes have recently reached heady new heights.

I would be surprised if you could find a better chocolate cake or indeed a wider variety of superb deserts freshly made on premises within 50 miles of here, and there is plenty of competition too!

Strawberry Lounge Smoothie Bar and cafe Alnwick Northumberland

Set down an unassuming alleyway this hidden gem is run by people who openly like children of all ages. We have a 11 month old baby so turned up with a pram and the usual circus. Once sat down and set up with the excellent high chair the waitress appeared armed with some finger food for our baby which was wonderful. The staff were really welcoming and the food sensibly priced and wholesome, particularly the freshly made fruit smoothies.

The Hollies - Farm Shop and Cafe - Stretton, Warrington Cheshire

Just what we've been needing, a peaceful place to escape the town and enjoy a superb quality coffee and some nice food in a rural ambiance. The hollies Farm shop has recently opened and is clearly an immediate hit. All items served up in the cafe can be bought in the Farm shop to take home and enjoy again!

An effort has been made to ensure as much produce is sourced locally from Cheshire and the surrounding counties. The term farm shop does not do justice to the comprehensive range of quality meats, vegetables, preserves, deli food, jams and premium breads and cheeses.
