One of the most frustrating things about arranging a holiday last minute can be locating available accommodation. It can be a frustrating exercise of finding a nice hotel, bed and breakfast or self catering holiday cottage only to discover subsequently that it is fully booked.

Twitter comes to the rescue

Out of my personal frustration a new service has is in the making - @lateescapes, a twitter powered late availability notification system for accommodation in the English Lake District and Cumbria. It reports announcements from The Lake District Late Availability web site.

How does it work?

It couldn't be simpler. All you need is to be a signed in user of twitter.com then visit @lateescapes, click the follow button and wait for our tweets. You will also see recent tweets via our twitter profile.

I am an accommodation provider, how do I use @lateescapes?
Firstly, it's free. You need a Twitter account, which is free. Next you must follow us and finally, each time you have accommodation to promote send us a direct message via twitter.

Types of notices we accept on @lateescapes are

All notices should relate to accommodation in Cumbria
Availability of Self Catering Cottages, in bed and breakfast, caravan parks, hotels in the next week or so - to try and let them last minute - these do not have to be special offers.
Special offers on any accommodation type.

Impotantly the message must contain a web link for further information.
