We just got a message from a friend who lives in Macclesfield warning us about a worrying scam being operated in and around TESCO Hibel Road, Macclesfield. If you live in the area please read this....
"Just to let you all know there's dodgy stuff going on. Earlier today ***** took my two children shopping. As he was leaving Tesco (Hibel Road) he was approached by a young woman who asked him for a lift to High Street - she said her daughter had been taken ill and she couldnt get a taxi to get to her.
**** initially said Yes, but then noticed another woman hanging about, realised the two were together then said No because he couldn't fit them both in the car. Next thing a female staff member came out and told the women to clear off and stop harassing the customers. The women left, and then the staff member explained to ***** that these two women plead to your better nature, and then actually take you to a gang who then rob you.
**** is obviously really shaken up and realises he was stupid even considering giving a stranger a lift. We've been onto the Duty Manager at Tesco who says the incident has been caught on CCTV, and that the women are well known to staff and police!
We are waiting for the police to ring for ***** to make a statement. Anyway, PLEASE be on your guard. We are all thankfully okay, but it could have been much different."
Please send a link to your friends, we suspect that Macclesfield is not the only place to suffer from this scam.
