On face value the new cafe at Trentham Gardens adjacent to the play area is outwardly pleasing, architecturally striking and provides a potentially better environment than the rather pre fabriacted predecessor.
Due to it's vicinity to the play area the majority of the clientele are parents with kids. The painfully slow service, long queues and hard echoing surfaces all contribute to an unpleasant experience.
During the 25 minute wait required to get 2 coffees my wife had a toddlers who was sick of waiting and was now totally disinterested in sitting whilst mum and dad sat and "relaxed" with a drink.
OK the coffee was good, but actually I would have enjoyed a cuppa in a plastic cup served very fast so the whole family could have drank together.
Next time we will take a flask.
